All about ground energy
Ground energy
We've had quite a few articles written about ground energy and its applications, so we thought we would bundle them all up for a special feature. Ground energy is a much under-used and misunderstood resource so here’s your chance to get the facts.
“Below a depth of 7-10m, the temperature of the ground remains fairly constant at the mean ambient air temperature regardless of the time of year. Depending on location and depth, this temperature is typically between 7 and 13ºc in the UK. This means that it can be used to as a heat source in the winter and as a source of coolth in the summer.”

CIOB competition
Thanks so much to everyone who entered our Chartered Institute of Building article competition. We had an amazing variety of entries, everything from using spiders to get rid of woodworm, to conical roof slating, to plastic bridges.
We will spend the next few weeks reading through them all to produce a shortlist of 5 from which one overall winner will be selected.
We will announce the winners and commended articles in the second week of June.
